Bowlers put England back on track after batting collapse on day one

MNP – England bowlers put Pakistan batters to the test after the visitors collapsed to 267 all out on the first day of the third Test at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

According to details, Pakistan openers, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique started off proceedings for the Green Shirts cautiously, but Shoaib Bashir had trapped Shafique on 27-ball 14. The wicket of Shafique started slide and it went quickly downhill thereafter.

But captain Shan Masood and Saud Shakeel looked to rebound Pakistan innings during final overs of the first day to ensure the hosts finished on 73-3.

For England, Jack Leach (1-33), Gus Atkinson (1-2), Shoaib Bashir (1-29) took a scalp each.

Earlier, England had once again fallen prey to Pakistan spinners, with Sajid Khan picking up six wickets, while Noman Ali picked up three wickets and Zahid Mahmood took one wicket.

No England batter could show significant resistance, with the exception of Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, and Zak Crawley.

 Smith had notched up 119-ball 89, lacing with five boundaries and six sixes.
