Dollar gains value in interbank market unlike fall in open market
MNP – The rupee experienced fluctuations against the dollar at the close of the business week, driven by increased remittances and the release of International Monetary Fund (IMF) installments.
Currency dealers noted that while the rupee had weakened, the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) dollar buying from the market prevented the Greenback’s value from falling further.
In the open market, the value of the dollar decreased by 25 paisas, closing at Rs280.59, as per the weekly report. However, in the interbank market, the dollar gained 12 paisas, finishing the week at Rs277.64.
