Cebekhulu Makes Quick Work Of Matroos, Wins WBF Title
South Africa(MNP) Sabelo Cebekhulu had little trouble dismantling fellow countryman Mawande Matroos to win the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) All Africa Bantamweight title on Sunday, December 4, in Ulundi, South Africa.
Undefeated Cebekhulu floored Matroos three times before referee Elroy Marshall called a halt to the bout in the second round.
The new WBF champion, fighting for the first time this year, took his professional record to 5-0 (2). Matroos drops to 5-5-1 (2).
In the evenings co-feature, WBF All Africa Middleweight champion Ayanda MthembuĀ“s defense against Snamiso Ntuli was declared a No-Contest in the third round.
Due to load shedding in South Africa, the lights in the venue was on and off continuously during this bout, making things impossible for the boxers, and in round three it was decided that enough was enough. A rematch is possible next year.
