PIA to expand flights across Europe, access US soon: Asif
MNP – Minister for Aviation Khawaja Asif, while addressing a ceremony at Islamabad International Airport, expressed immense gratitude for the resumption of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to Europe after a 4.5-year hiatus.
“I cannot thank Allah enough for this milestone,” said Khawaja Asif, highlighting that the return of PIA to European skies is a moment of national pride. “The green crescent flag will once again fly across the skies of Europe, restoring our identity that we had lost for years.”
The minister announced that PIA aims to expand operations throughout Europe and collaborate with other airlines to provide access to destinations in the United States, whether the passengers transit in Paris or anywhere else. He emphasised that efforts are underway to restart flights on three routes to Britain in the near future.
Khawaja Asif acknowledged the relentless efforts of his predecessor, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and the unwavering support of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who personally monitored the process. “Immense effort was put into restoring PIA operations over the last eight to 10 months, and today is a historic day for PIA, civil aviation, and the government,” he said.
