UAE has rolled over Pakistan’s $2bn debt, PM tells cabinet

MNP – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a rollover of $2 billion in debt due for repayment by Pakistan this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif disclosed during a federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The announcement follows a one-on-one meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Rahim Yar Khan. The PM told the cabinet the meeting was “positive and constructive” where both leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties and boosting investment cooperation.
In televised remarks at the cabinet meeting, the premier thanked the UAE president for the gesture, emphasizing its importance for Pakistan’s economic stability. He mentioned that Sheikh Nahyan expressed commitment to investing in Pakistan, assuring that his country would not fall behind in this regard.
