PM Shehbaz directs reduction in electricity prices
MNP – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed on Friday for a further reduction in electricity prices for the public. He also emphasised accelerating the implementation of future power generation projects.
During a review meeting on power generation and transmission projects, the prime minister ordered the immediate closure of outdated power plants that produce limited electricity with excessive fuel consumption.
He stated, “In the future, priority should be given to low-cost power projects and local resources.” The meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing hydropower projects across the country.
PM Shehbaz highlighted that globally, electricity is being generated using environmentally friendly, low-cost solar energy. He added, “Hydropower will provide consumers with both environmentally friendly and affordable electricity.”
The premier further mentioned, “Pakistan is fortunate to have vast potential for solar energy and the current power capacity should be shifted to solar energy.”
