43rd Punjab Open Golf Championship
Lahore (Mustansar Khan) Punjab Golf Association management body .These players completed their event rallies over the first two days on 27th and 28th November and the final three days starting from Friday were left for the 102 leading golf professionals of the national golf circuit and forty amateurs who play to a handicap of 12 and below .
At the conclusion of the 18 holes round on Friday ,Hamza Amin ,a handsome young golfer of Islamabad golf Club and a highly accomplished golf professional played superbly enough to gross an impressive four under par score of 68 on a challenge loaded Royal Palm Golf Course and thereby appear as the top performer in a field of 102 professional golfers and as per norm ,it is an honor to be eligible to compete in this title bearing open golf championship.In the process he edged past many notable contenders like Shabbir Iqbal , Matloob Ahmed ,Muhammed Alam and Muhammed Munir .Hamza Amin is a powerful hitter of the ball and he owes the brilliance displayed on friday to excellent hitting and suitably well timed approach shots to the green .
Hamza Amin may be alone on top of the leaderboard after yesterdays round ,but breathing down his throat is Tahir Bashir of Defence Raya Club who is just one stroke behind at a score of gross 69 .Tahir is not a much recognized golf professional but his hard work over the past few months has paid off and he surfaces as a player of merit who is likely to become a forceful name in national golf .
As for the other contenders the situation is fascinatingly gripping .We have seven competitors bunched together at a score of gross 71 ,one under par .And the names are Minhaj Maqsood ,an outstanding golf professional ,another one is Muhammed Shabbir ,holder of 200 prominent golf titles and others are Talat Ijaz ,Muhammed Saqib,Anser Mehmood ,M.Zubair and Muhammed Munir .
So fierce is the competitive race that further one stroke down at a score of par 72 are eleven participating professionals .Six of these contestants are from Lahore Gymkhana ,their names being Asif Ali , Akber Mehroze ,Aasher Masih ,Latif Rafiq ,Suleman Akhter and M.Imran.The other five are Ghazanfar Mehmood ,Talib Hussain,Ashiq Hussain,M.Alam and M.Shahzad .
Rustam Chatta of Punjab Golf Association and the sponsors Gourmet complimented all these leading position holders on this performance and hoped they will further excel over the remaining two rounds.
