Missing parrots from London Zoo found 60 miles away in Cambridgeshire

MNP – Lily and Margot, two blue-throated macaws who escaped from London Zoo a week ago, have been found 60 miles away in Cambridgeshire.

The vibrant parrots, known for their deep blue feathers and yellow markings, disappeared on October 21 while flying freely as part of their daily routine at the zoo.

The search concluded after a family in Buckden, Cambridgeshire, spotted the birds behind their garden. While the macaws initially flew away again, they were later tracked down in a nearby field. Zookeepers reported that Lily and Margot flew directly into their arms upon retrieval and enjoyed a treat of pumpkin seeds, walnuts, and pecans.

The birds are in good condition and currently in quarantine at London Zoo’s animal hospital before rejoining their parents, Popeye and Ollie.
