Lahore tops global air pollution rankings, AQI reaches hazardous levels

MNP – Lahore witnessed a sharp rise in air pollution, catapulting it to the top of the global rankings for the worst air quality early morning.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) soared to a hazardous level of 232, with several areas of the city reporting figures exceeding 260. This dramatic increase in pollution has led to a thick haze enveloping the city, causing visibility issues and raising health concerns.

As pollution-related illnesses surge, Residents increasingly suffer from respiratory problems, including nose, throat, and eye irritations. Authorities have launched a smog prevention campaign, with the Environment Department and Traffic Police actively checking vehicles emitting excessive smoke at the city’s key entry and exit points.
