Kashif Anwar appointed as board member of Punjab Council of Arts

Lahore (MNP) President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashif Anwar has been appointed as member Board of Governors of Punjab Council of Arts and an official notification has been issued in this regard.

Director General of Punjab Council of Arts, Information and Culture Department Punjab Dr. Syed Bilal Haider met Kashif Anwar at LCCI and congratulated him on his appointment for which LCCI President thanked.

Dr. Syed Bilal Haider said that the board of directors of Punjab Council of Arts is very important. Chief Minister Punjab is the Chairman of the boards of governors.

He further stated that by taking some measures, Pakistan’s arts and culture can be turned into a billion dollar industry. He said that there is a lack of linkages between academia, industry and the government due to which the potential of this sector could not be fully exploited.

He said that this sector in France has become a billion dollar industry but supporting edifice is missing Pakistan. He said that the documentation of artists in Punjab has reduced from 40000 to 22000. Due to unemployment, 80% artists live on the Punjab government’s stipends.

He said that the Board of Directors evolves the policies. The objective of bringing in the Ministry of Information and corporate leadership is to increase the interaction. He said that Punjab Council of Arts is trying to display and market the work. The Board meets every four months. The board was inactive for the last 14 years but is now fully active.
