#Pakistan announce 18-member #ICC #WorldCup 2023 squad
LAHORE (MNP) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (#PCB) has announced the squad for the upcoming #WorldCup2023 on Friday.
Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq announced the 18-member squad at a press conference. He said Babar Azam would lead the team and Shadab Khan would be vice captain.
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in India from Oct 5 and Pakistan will play its first match against the Netherlands on Oct 6.
The Squad:
Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice captain), Abdullah Shafiq, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imamul Haq, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Muhammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Muhammad Wasim Jr., Hasan Ali, Saud Shakeel, Salman Agha and Osama Mir.
Reserve:
Mohammad Haris, Abrar Ahmed and Zaman Khan
Naseem Shah, who is not part of the World Cup 2023 squad expressed his dismay through his Tweet.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Shah mentioned that “With a heavy heart, I’m sharing that I will not be part of this amazing team that will be representing our beloved country. While I’m disappointed, I believe everything is in Allah’s hands. InshahAllah will be on the field very soon.”
