MNP – Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to start consultation process with LCCI soon, says Governor Punjab
President LCCI thanked the government officials for their continuous support for the business community.
Lahore (MNP) Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman on Friday distributed 2nd “Friends of LCCI Awards” among the Civil Servants at Governor House.
The idea behind “Friends of LCCI” Awards is to recognize the outstanding services and worthy achievements of the personalities from public who have made notable impact in national interest and collaborated with the Lahore Chamber for the facilitation of the business community.
LCCI President Kashif Anwar, Senior Vice President Zafar Mahmood Chaudhry and Vice President Adnan Khalid Butt also spoke on the occasion.
Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman, along with LCCI President Kashif Anwar, Senior Vice President Zafar Mahmood Chaudhry and Vice President Adnan Khalid Butt, gave awards to the DGTO Riaz Ahmad, Collector Customs Appraisement Mughalpura, Saira Agha, Military Secretary To Governor Punjab Lt. Col. Bilal Javed, DG Punjab Food Authority Mudassar Riaz Malik, CEO LESCO Ch. Muhammad Amin, CEO PBIT Jalal Hassan, DG Rescue 1122 Dr. Rizwan Naseer and DG PHA Zeeshan Javed. Earlier, LCCI office-bearers presented a special award to Governor Punjab.
The Governor Punjab said Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has told him that the consultation process will be started with the Lahore Chamber very soon. He said that the Charter of Economy is the need of the hour. A few years ago, Ishaq Dar called for a Charter of Economy. He was of the view that wherever there has been progress in the world, it has been due to continuity in policy, but then their words were not given importance. Today everyone is realizing how important the Charter of Economy is.
The Governor said that unfortunately, the importance of taxpayers is not realized in our society. It is the tax collection that runs the education system. He said that Giving free education is one of the most expensive things. Those who are running a charity school or hospital should be asked how much their expenses are and more than 200,000 government schools are being run with tax payer’s money.
He said that when private hospitals run out of bed space, they apologize to the incoming patients, but the government hospitals do not apologize to patients. Beds are shared there. Doctors work beyond their capacity. All this is possible with taxpayers’ money.
The Governor Punjab said that if the economic condition of the country is reviewed till 2018, you will see that from 2013 to 2018, the number of out-of-school children in the country has decreased significantly. But after 2018, the number of out-of-school children has increased again.
He said that in 2016-17, we were discussing that ten new universities should be established. Hundreds of new projects were launched, but today we see that the projects that were launched before 2018 are not only incomplete, but also unfunded.
The Governor Punjab said that by 2018, big companies wanted to invest in Pakistan. Harvard Think Tank said that Pakistan’s GDP growth will be 6 percent. The whole world was saying that our country is showing rapid progress and international delegates used to tell me that we can only dream of Pakistan’s growth rate.
